DIY Cross Belt

Afternoon all,

A sunny afternoon in south east England so I thought i'd get out in the garden and do some DIY. A lot of us have no money for clothing and accessories at the moment, but i'm making the most of it. I've been doing a lot of DIY, and this is the first post of a few different DIY pieces I have created since leaving university.
The great thing I love about customised pieces is they're individual. Even if you take inspiration from another source, as I have done with many of the pieces, I just love being able to say I did it myself when people ask!

2012 fashion has scene the revival of grundge: black, leather, spikes, destressed denim and i'm loving it!
I've wanted a cross belt for a while - first spotted on NastyGal and then on the Topshop website, they're the perfect statement piece. As I stated before - im broke, so I thought i'd give it a shot at making one myself. The belts I want feature metal crosses but I made the most of what I had available, without having to spend a penny.

Topshop Triple Cross Keeper Belt £14              Nasty Gal Cross Leather Belt £162.45

Anyway, here is the most recent one i've done: The Cross Belt.
What you'll need:

An old Belt
Cutting Matt
Scalpel
Ruler
A steady hand!

The belt I chose was one given to me by my Grandma, a simple imitation leather belt with a gold buckle, it isn't too thick so I knew it'd be easy to cut through.

I started by measuring the length between each of the buckle holes. This is how far apart my crosses will be from one another. (on my belt this was 2cm) I started my first cross 2cm from the last buckle hole.

I then continued with each cross 2cm apart across the whole belt.

I found the easiest way is to cut out the vertical line of the cross first then the two horizontal squares either side. Make sure the side points are the same width and height as the top point of the cross.
The brilliant thing about this is you can apply any shape you desire to your belt.

I will definitely do some outfit posts soon including my new belt!

Monochrome Highs

Hello Everyone,

Firstly I'd just like to announce that i've actually finished university! Not only that.. I Graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Fashion with Photography. My gosh I had the biggest adrenalin high when I read that e-mail!
But anyway, I thought I better do an outfit post! This is an outfit thats has been sitting on my computer for a while. I love it purely for its simplicity, and noone could go wrong with this monochrome look. I've tried edgy looks with fussy garments and prints, but I find myself always going back to what I know looks alright on me.

I would also love to know what everyone does, or studies! I'm always looking for new projects and opportunities with people, plus i'm just generally interested! After all you definitely DONT have to study fashion to be fashionable!!!
Let me know

Today's Outfit

Hello!

Any of you that live in Britain, will know of the HORRID weather we are experiencing. I know us Brits love a good old moan about the weather but it's honestly awful. Anyway my point is i'm back to photographing in my room - I much prefer photographs on locations but the weather has drawn me back inside... This outfit is a simple one. I love the crop top and think it looks great with a waisted skirt or short, but haven't been brave enough to wear it until today. I wore it with my leather jacket. Leather and tights in June... Deary me. The last image is of some earrings I picked up from Topman for £4 BARGIN! They don't match which I personally love, but have had a few people comment 'You do know you're wearing odd earrings?' ... You can buy two of the same pair from Topman and be left with two pairs of earrings for £8, which is cheaper than a Topshop pair that go for about £10?? Plus if you purchase from Topman you know that your accessories won't be the same as every other girl. Win win!

More outfits coming soon!

End of year show

I thought I'd share with you all some photos from my end of year graduate show at Brick Lane.
I'm wearing urban outfitters silk dress, Aldo sandals, various silver jewellery, Batoko bag and gosh lipstick.
I was so proud to have my work shown and also representing the uni and in the Free Range Graduate Book

Ms Ray Ban

In my previous post I mentioned about my new RayBans (which I am in love with) anyone with a small face like myself, who doesn't suit the big Victoria Beckham style shades should definitely invest in a pair!

Back to Black

Hello,

It's been a while since i've done an outfit post, as I was so busy with my final months at uni.
I'm now working for a design studio and loving working life!
Here's an outfit I wore last week (whilst trying to teach the boyfriend basic camera skills!).
I also purchased some Raybans, and they are perfect, even for someone who doesn't tend to suit sunglasses like myself. Also had my hair styled differently with a middy fringe... would love to know what people think. Oh and I'm still wearing a lot of black!

SPELL AND THE GYPSY

Good evening!

Now i've finished uni I have had time to think about my holiday wardrobe! I'm always searching the blog sites when I have a spare second for styling inspiration, when I came across Spell and the Gypsy. My personal style is very simple, and what I wear is worlds away from these images. However, I love layering of jewellery and have always loved the edgy boho chick look, pairing of soft flowing fabrics and destressed denim and leather. Especially for summer. If I had the money I'd would definitely invest in Spell and the Gypsy's statement pieces. Here are images from many of their lookbooks, and when you have a moment i'm sure you will marvel at their beauty too!

I'll definitely be looking back at these images for summer style inspiration!
